Building a Performance-Driven, Unified Team: How to Align Sales and Marketing

If you were in the market for a camera in 1995, disruptive (or traditional) advertising and marketing might have inspired you to make a new purchase. Today, however, the buyer’s journey has changed drastically—no longer a linear path—we utilize multiple touch points and resources that influence our final purchasing decision.

Circa ’95, you might have asked a few friends or family members for camera recommendations, but a majority of your research and comparison of products was done in-store. Without the internet, social media and a plethora of product review and comparison sites at your disposal, you would have relied heavily on the information given to you at a local specialty shop by a qualified sales representative. 

The New Moment of Truth 

According to Google, your first Zero Moment of Truth (pictured below) would have taken place in the store, and the second at home or on vacation while using your new camera. If you enjoyed your experience, you’d likely be a repeat customer.

PR, marketing and advertising have been changing for years—propelled to new heights by the rise of the Internet, mobile devices and social platforms. Traditional outreach has fallen flat for years and trends are in favor of online, digital and visual means of connection.

In response, marketers have evolved (and improved) their tactics, toolbox and methodology to stay relevant and successful in their practice. They have mastered new skills and updated internal structures to support evolutions along the way, but even greater changes are yet to come.

As such, we are in need of a new playbook to help us remain relevant, and continue to engage with our increasingly tech-savvy and always available audiences.

Marketing in the B2B Space: 3 Common Challenges and How to Overcome Them

Last week, professionals from across Northeast Ohio gathered at a pub in the heart of downtown Cleveland to share a few laughs, apps and experiences. Conversation focused on one of our favorite topics: finding solutions to some of modern marketing’s common challenges.

The Cleveland HubSpot User Group (HUG) welcomed Secure State (@SecureState) marketers, Genna Carbone (@CarboneG) and Courtney Satink (@courtneysatink), to share their knowledge and expertise of marketing in the B2B space. As Carbone and Satink detailed their experiences at Secure State, you could see nods and sentiments of agreement among the marketers in the room.
